Suddenly, out of nowhere, Chris and Misty Adkins' lives took an unexpected turn. Chris collapsed, suffering multiple major strokes... not the mini variety...major strokes. Chris went into a coma, teetering on the edge of life and death for weeks with doctors offering little hope for recovery. Misty refused to give up hope. She sat next to Chris' bedside tirelessly, day and night, day after day... Weeks went by...
And then he opened his eyes and he smiled at Misty.
After 59 days, Chris finally came home from the hospital.
But Chris is far from where he was before he had these stokes, although he is moving forward. He is learning to walk and talk again with constant daily therapy and his progress is nothing short of amazing! Although Chris has a long road of recovery ahead of him, Misty continues to be with him every step of the way to help him with the struggles of daily living and his therapy.
As you can imagine, the financial burden that this has placed upon them has been devastating. Medical bills, feeding a family, mortgage, every day life, etc....all still needing to be paid. With both Chris & Misty not being able to work for over 2 months so far and counting, they are facing financial hardships that most of us could never or would ever want to imagine.
